Summary
Serve in a developmental assignment to provide the individual with the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the full range of duties described in the target position description. Perform duties outlined in the target grade position description but will operate under closer supervision. Assignments are given with more specific instructions and guidance until the incumbent has gained familiarity and experience with the work and can perform all duties at the full performance level.
QualificationsTo qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement – 06/10/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement:
Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date. For a GS‑06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS‑05. The grade may have been in any occupation – but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF‑50 that shows your time‑in‑grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.
If the most recent SF‑50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one‑year time‑in‑grade as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF‑50 that clearly demonstrates one‑year time‑in‑grade.

Time‑In‑Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized
Experience:
One (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS‑04) in the Federal Service – that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Transportation Assistant – Transportation Coordinator. Qualifying specialized experience includes preparing written instructions and a variety of correspondence;
performing data entry into an automated system; scheduling appointments and admissions; collecting, compiling and tracking data; and ensuring compliance with regulations and procedures.
Education: Successfully completed 4 years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. Transcripts must be submitted at time of application. Education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position.

Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education beyond the second year of specialized experience as described above – which meets the total experience requirements for this grade level. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.

GS‑06 Determination: Possess at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS‑05) in the Federal Service – that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Transportation Assistant – Transportation Coordinator for the GS‑06 level.
