Pharmacist
Position Summary:
Pharmacist provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care through integrated drug distribution, patient counseling and teaching. Pharmacists fill orders for medications, monitor patient’s drug therapies, and provide drug information. The pharmacist supervises and directs supportive staff. In the absence of Pharmacy Management, a pharmacist may be required to assume the essential responsibilities and perform the duties of the Director of Pharmacy.

Education, Training, Experience and Licenses/Registrations
Required:
- Licensed by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy, or eligible for Texas licensure, to be completed within 120 days of hire.
- 0‑2 years experience in pharmacy services; hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
- Demonstrates high level of organizational skills.
- Demonstrates independent functioning.
- CPR Certification within 60 days of hire; PALS Certification recommended for those that work in the Pediatric Pharmacy Satellite; ACLS Certification recommended for those that work in Adult Critical Care Pharmacy Satellite.
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Ability to speak and hear, to allow discussions with employees and peers.
- Ability to cope with and remain calm under stress.
- Ability to respond to pages.
- Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions.
- Bending and lifting (25 lbs), grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling.
- Ability to work independently and handle stress appropriately. Ability to work cooperatively with hospital and pharmacy staff. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to set priorities, make critical decisions and respond quickly to emergency requests.
- Potential exposure to agents and toxic chemicals.
