Paramedic​/TSQ FED​/PRN

POSITION SUMMARY

The Paramedic will provide quality care to patients of all ages under the direction of the Medical Director and in accordance with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of Northwest Texas Healthcare System. The Paramedic reports to the charge nurse for shift assignments and direction of shift duties as assigned, and is responsible for the direct and indirect care of patients. Within the scope of practice, the Paramedic provides patient care and observation, performs specified treatments and procedures, ensures environmental and personal safety, communicates effectively, and collects pertinent data within the certification scope.

The Paramedic works in collaboration with RNs and medical providers to care for adult medical and trauma patients, and is responsible for ECG interpretation, IV therapy, and initiation of approved protocol orders and guidelines. • Provide direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of the Medical Director and Charge Nurse.
• Perform patient care, observation, treatments, and procedures within the defined scope of practice.
• Ensure environmental and personal safety and communicate effectively with the care team.
• Collect pertinent data and report clinical, psychosocial, and other findings to the RN or medical provider.
• Collaborate with RNs and medical providers for adult medical and trauma patient care.
• Interpret ECG, administer IV therapy, and initiate approved protocol orders and guidelines.
• Demonstrate Service Excellence at all times.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited school of paramedicine.
• Texas certification as a paramedic, license preferred.
• 2 years’ experience as a Paramedic in a pre‑hospital environment.
• 1 year experience in a hospital setting as a Paramedic preferred.
• Current BLS certification within 90 days of hire and maintenance throughout employment.
• Current ACLS and PALS within 90 days of hire and maintenance throughout employment.
• PHTLS or equivalent trauma certification within 90 days of hire and maintenance throughout employment.
• HWC within 90 days of hire and maintenance throughout employment.
