The Radiology Technologist will operate radiographic equipment to produce radiographs of the body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by the ER Physician in accordance with the Radiologist’s accepted protocol. The technologist will also be proficient in positioning patients and the examination table to obtain optimum views of the requested area. The technologist will practice radiation safety techniques with the ALARA principle in mind, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of applicable exposure factors to maximize protection for patients and staff.
Each technologist will operate CT scan equipment to produce computed tomography scans of the body, administer and consent for IV and oral contrast, and ensure proper documentation in the patient’s chart. The primary goal is to ensure patient safety and satisfaction while acquiring diagnostic‑quality exams.
- Maintain awareness of all departmental and operational policies of NEC.
- Assist in the maintenance of department equipment, including cleaning and QA procedures.
- Explain to patients the benefits and risks of procedures and exams.
- Prepare patients for examination, including contrast, IV placements, and lab checks.
- Facilitate departmental operations through completion of all appropriate contrast, extravasation, pregnancy, and other forms related to pre‑performed exams.
- Maintain safety precautions to minimize radiation exposure to patients, personnel, and self.
- Maintain current knowledge of diagnostic radiology/CT procedures performed in the radiology department.
- Possess basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology required for radiologic principles and exposure methods.
- Possess basic knowledge of radiology/CT equipment functioning to provide for minor repair and troubleshooting.
- Be proficient in the utilization of all radiologic and laboratory equipment of the ER.
- Utilize appropriate body mechanics in moving and lifting patients and equipment to prevent injury.
- Apply principles of radiology safety in performing positioning responsibilities.
- Maintain awareness of own limitations and seek guidance when needed.
- Communicate problems or concerns regarding departmental activities to appropriate personnel.
- Provide safe transportation of patients to and from the patient care unit.

QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience , Skills- Graduate of an accredited approved school of Radiologic Technology.
- At least 1 year of radiologic/imaging experience and CT experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
- Basic arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Basic computer skills.
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- Current state licensure.
- Current BCLS Certification (Texas Requirements: ARRT (R) (CT) and TDH/TMB;
Colorado and Rhode Island Requirements: ARRT (R) (CT)).
