The Patient Access Liaison (PAL) (field-based) provides education and reimbursement support to adult and pediatric patients and caregivers, guiding them through insurance, coverage, and reimbursement, and delivering disease state, product, and medication administration education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as primary point of contact for patients/caregivers for education on disease state, Ascendis products, and access/administration questions.
  • Build and maintain relationships via in-person and virtual interactions.
  • Assess patient needs and develop an action plan using approved resources to empower advocacy.
  • Provide individualized education on disease state and product using approved resources.
  • Educate patients on insurance coverage and the therapy access process.
  • Conduct medication administration education as required once coverage is established.
  • Provide information on affordability resources as needed.
  • Manage long-term relationships with patients and care teams via tailored communication plans.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional internal teams; partner with Patient Advocacy and attend education symposia as needed.
  • Partner with Patient Safety/Pharmacovigilance and Complaint Management/Compliance to report AEs and product complaints.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Up to 50% travel, including overnight travel and some weekend travel.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree + 5+ years in a direct patient support role; ability to explain disease state, product, and access/reimbursement concepts at a consumer level.
  • Clinical/Allied Health degree/licensure preferred; 5+ years clinical experience in pediatrics, endocrinology, neurology, ENT, orthopedics, or related.
  • 2+ years pharmaceutical industry experience.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Preferred: rare/orphan product launch experience; experience educating on injectable administration; experience navigating reimbursement obstacles.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, FDA requirements, and OIG Compliance guidelines.
  • Ability to work autonomously and communicate with cross-functional partners; adapt to evolving needs.
  • Professional, proactive; excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication.

Compensation:

Annual base salary: $185,000–$190,000.
