HOURS:

Monday through Thursday 40-hour work week with 24/7 on call requirementsSUMMARYUnder the general supervision of the Program Manager, this position is responsible for coordinating activities of the Community Mental Health Grant (CMHG), focusing on suicide loss postvention, bereavement, crisis response, mental health and prevention for the Amarillo Area Public Health District. Duties include working with law enforcement agencies, volunteers, advocates, survivors of suicide loss and partner organizations to meet the deliverables of the grant.

The position is grant funded and renewal is contingent upon the availability of funds. The end date of the grant does not guarantee employment for the duration of the grant. If grant funding ends or is reduced, you may consider applying for an existing vacancy within the City of Amarillo.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Assures that the scope of work, as set forth by the program scope of work, is carried out.

Responsible for organization, planning and project implementation efforts for the CMHG program.

Compliance with all reporting and DSHS required participation guidelines set in the grant.

Conducts ongoing research and education on current regulatory requirements for federal and state grant programs.

Enter data in all appropriate electronic grant record systems.

Responsible for grant tracking, data entry accuracy, and compliance reporting.

Responsible for community outreach, connection, education, and engagement.

Responsible for public speaking, trainings, and presentations regarding the CMHG program.

Responsible for creating social media content and marketing materials.

Responsible for volunteer coordination, recruitment and care.

Participates in suicide review teams and interagency committees.

Training advocates and debriefing the Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors (LOSS) Team.

Assists in partnership building with law enforcement, agencies, and community partners.

Responds on scene to Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors (LOSS) Team activations.

Coordinates scene restoration services.

Links clients to bereavement services.

Facilitates grief groups and provides survivor support and bereavement navigation.

Responsible for crisis response, suicide‑postvention, and on‑scene support.

Provides professional and compassionate communication.

Participates in and attends team meetings, staff meetings, department meetings, in-service training, committees, outreaches and other related activities as needed.

Performs administrative duties to ensure the timely implementation of projects.

Accounts for the City property assigned to the section and participates in annual inventories.

Maintains client confidentiality, complies with ethical practices, and HIPAA requirements.

Participates in public health preparedness responses.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field, Valid Texas Driver’s License, and reliable transportation with proof of current vehicle insurance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Strong knowledge of area of specialty, including but not limited to community mental health systems, trauma-informed care, postvention programs and principles, bereavement and recovery principles.

Knowledge of Public Health ten essential functions.

Knowledge of the HIPAA Privacy Act.

Knowledge of the design and presentation of training programs.

Knowledge of state and federal grant requirements.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Skills to use a computer with Microsoft Office for data entry, word processing and accounting purposes.
