Position Description & Qualifications

Join a dynamic team supporting the US Navy in a challenging and high-profile role as a Metrics Analyst! Serco is looking for a skilled professional with Navy experience to assist senior leaders in harnessing data for strategic decision-making. This position is perfect for former Navy personnel who have a strong grasp of shipboard operations, maintenance, and readiness, and can effectively guide the creation of impactful dashboards.

In this role, you'll not only design dashboards but also determine which data is most crucial and how to present it effectively, all while working in the Washington DC metro area.

This individual will engage closely with senior Navy leaders, utilizing their extensive knowledge of shipboard operations to deliver actionable insights through data analysis. We're especially interested in candidates who have served onboard ships, in shipyard environments, or who have prior experience in Navy maintenance metrics and analytics, particularly those who were Surface Warfare Officer (SWO) Junior Officers (JO). A deep understanding of shipboard maintenance issues is essential for contextualizing data analysis within the unique demands of the naval environment.

• Applying your shipboard maintenance expertise and data analytics skills to support Navy leaders in making informed maintenance and logistics decisions.
• Collaborating with various stakeholders to collect and analyze data from shipboard operations and beyond. Employing statistical analysis and data visualization tools to draw meaningful insights and communicate your findings.
• Crafting data-driven reports, briefings, and presentations for senior Navy leadership, translating complex data into executive-level insights.
• Supporting the development of metrics frameworks that align with Fleet and Headquarters strategic goals.
• Building strong relationships with Navy personnel to ensure that data analytics initiatives meet organizational objectives.
• Providing strategic insights on dashboard design and application using tools like Power BI, Tableau, and Jupyter.
• Producing comprehensive written deliverables including reports, spreadsheets, databases, and technical design documents that clarify your findings and recommendations.

• A Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of relevant experience.
• US citizenship and an active DoD Secret Security clearance.
• A strong background in data analytics within a DoD setting, including experience with statistical analysis and data visualization.
• Proficiency in utilizing data to drive decision‑making processes and operational enhancements.
• Excellent communication skills capable of conveying complex data insights to senior Navy leaders.
• Familiarity with data sources and systems typically used in the Navy.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
• Experience with data visualization tools like Qlik and/or Tableau.
• A willingness to travel minimally (10%).

• NAVSEA or Navy operational experience.
• Knowledge of Depot‑level Overhaul, Maintenance, and Modernization activities.
• Experience in algorithm writing with Python and similar languages used for AI/ML.
• Familiarity with Navy maintenance and readiness data systems (e.g., OARS, VSB, CASREP or equivalent).
• Education or certification in data analytics, computer science, or a related field.
