Overview
Employment - Contract / Contract-to-Hire
Compensation: Competitive based on experience, ranging from $25-$60+/hr
We are seeking a Data Center Technician to support operations within a large-scale hyperscale data center environment. This individual will be responsible for server deployment, hardware troubleshooting, rack and stack activities, cabling, infrastructure support, and day-to-day data center operations. The ideal candidate has experience supporting mission-critical environments where uptime, process adherence, and operational excellence are key priorities.
Responsibilities- Install, configure, rack, stack, and decommission servers and network equipment.
- Perform hardware break/fix, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and component replacement.
- Execute server deployments and infrastructure upgrades following established procedures.
- Install, test, and label copper and fiber optic cabling.
- Support network, storage, and server infrastructure teams with physical layer activities.
- Monitor data center alerts and respond to incidents as required.
- Document activities, inventory changes, and operational procedures accurately.
- Perform remote hands support for internal engineering and operations teams.
- Maintain data center cleanliness, organization, and security standards.
- Participate in change management processes and maintenance windows.
- Follow all safety, security, and operational compliance requirements.
- Assist with asset tracking, inventory management, and hardware lifecycle activities.
- 1+ years of experience supporting a data center, NOC, telecommunications, infrastructure, or IT operations environment.
- Experience with server hardware installation and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of rack and stack procedures.
- Understanding of structured cabling standards including fiber and copper.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, switches, routers, and patch panels.
- Experience working with ticketing systems and operational documentation.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work within a data center environment.
- Comfortable working shifts, weekends, and on-call schedules when required.
- Previous experience supporting a hyperscale or large enterprise data center.
