What You’ll DoProject Controls Supervisor supports the planning, scheduling, cost management, and risk management functions of various Major Modernization and Small Production Projects. As a Project Controls Supervisor reporting to the Project Control Manager, you will lead a team of project control engineers, ensuring compliance with project controls standards, supporting Earned Value Management (EVM) practices, and maintaining alignment with government standard practices, if applicable.
This role is integral to achieving project success by providing oversight, mentoring team members, and implementing effective project controls strategies.
Supervise, guide, and mentor project control engineers to achieve project objectives and maintain a high standard of performance. Provide the technical direction, integration, and leadership for project controls deliverables and daily work activities. Ensure team alignment with project control standards, policies, and procedures, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
Project Planning and SchedulingReview project schedules for scope and quality assurance, coordinating with project managers and stakeholders to ensure schedules align with project goals. Support and direct preparation of the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), assignment of the project control analyst and engineer, and development of the project execution plan with resource‑loaded critical‑path schedule, identifying all activities, deliverables and milestones as outlined in the WBS.
Monitor project milestones, deadlines, and deliverables, adjusting schedules as needed to maintain project timeline accuracy. Analyze and recommend actions regarding the feasibility, coordination, planning and execution of program/project management related processes and activities.
Support the developed cost control procedures, including budgeting, forecasting, change management, and variance analysis, to uphold project financial integrity and project controls standards. Identify and track all changes or potential changes to the project scope, ensuring estimates of cost changes impact are given visibility to the client and project management.
Risk ManagementIdentify potential project risks and collaborate with project teams to develop mitigation strategies. Perform regular risk assessments to support project health and proactively address potential issues.
Project Control Standards and ComplianceEnsure project control activities are in compliance with project control practices and other relevant standards, as required. Support the implementation of project controls standard processes, maintaining adherence to performance measurement and reporting requirements.
Project Controls Reporting and AnalysisGenerate and review project controls reports to monitor project progress, budget performance, and risk status. Provide regular updates to stakeholders, supporting decision‑making with accurate and timely information.
General LeadershipLead the organization in a professional "can‑do" attitude focused on getting the work done. Foster an environment that supports cooperation and cohesiveness between multiple functional groups. Set expectations for cohesiveness, collaboration, and teamwork.
MinimumJob Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 5 years of relevant experience
- OR Applicants without a bachelor’s degree may be considered based on a combination of at least 13 years of completed education and/or relevant experience
- Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
- Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence‑scope polygraph, pursuant to 10 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 709. Medical requirements may apply.
