Plateau Laboratory Specialties, based in Amarillo, TX, is a growing family owned and operated lubricants distributor. We are looking for a highly motivated Lubricant Chemist to join our team and contribute to our continued success. Job Summary

The Lubricant Chemist is responsible for developing, formulating, testing, and supporting the production of finished lubricants and specialty fluids. This role works closely with operations, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure products meet customer specifications and industry standards while supporting continuous improvement in blending efficiency and product performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, formulate, and optimize lubricant products including engine oils, hydraulic fluids, gear oils, greases, and specialty blends
  • Support day-to-day blending operations by troubleshooting formulation or quality issues
  • Perform laboratory testing on raw materials and finished products
  • Maintain and update product formulations, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Assist with scale-up from lab formulations to full production blending
  • Work with purchasing on raw material selection, substitutions, and approvals
  • Investigate non-conformance and implement corrective actions related to product quality
  • Provide formulation and performance guidance as needed
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to product performance, cost optimization, and product efficiency
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field
  • 2+ years of experience (or equivalent experience) in liquids/fluids/lubricant blending or petroleum related chemistry
  • Knowledge of base oils, additives, and lubricant performance testing
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with operations and production teams
