What You'll DoProduction Stores Line Driver
Responsible for the safe, secure, and timely transportation of highly sensitive and hazardous materials, including nuclear explosives, special nuclear material, high explosives, and weapon components within Zone 12 Material Access Area (MAA). This work is performed in strict accordance with Nuclear Explosive Safety protocols and other governing regulations. The position s primary purpose is to directly support critical national security missions by ensuring these materials, along with associated support equipment like special tooling carts and compressed gas cylinders, are handled and moved with meticulous precision and adherence to procedures, utilizing MAA-approved electric forklift.
EssentialJob Duties
- Transportation of:
- Nuclear Explosives
- Special Nuclear Material (SNM), High Explosives
- Warehouse material and Special Tooling carts (Explosive Transportation Cart-I, II; High Explosive Transportation Cart ETC-I, ETC-II, HETC)
- Compressed gas cylinders in approved restraints
- Able to identify and utilize special tooling attachments specific to Nuclear Explosives being transported
- SNM tie-down and load securement protocols
- Maintain and complete QC 1003.46 (Line Driver qualification card)
- Demonstrate knowledge of Technical Safety Requirements and Procedures related to transport and handling of Nuclear Explosives in Zone 12 MAA
- Awareness of Zone 12 MAA ramps/corridors and route restrictions for specific hazards
- Frequent entry to bays/cells for material move verification
- Record, verify, and maintain all necessary paperwork to accomplish job assignments
- Perform assignments with a high degree of quality and efficiency while observing prescribed safety and security measures
- Collaborate with co-workers, representatives of other Departments/Divisions, and outside agencies
- Maintain housekeeping and cleanliness of assigned area and equipment
- Maintain necessary forms and records essential to accomplishing assigned responsibilities
- Care for and protect assigned material and equipment
- Maintain knowledge of applicable Federal, State, DOE, corporate and plant rules, regulations, labor agreements, and plant-wide operating policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Attend and/or successfully complete training classes as determined by the Technical Training Department, through General Employee Training (DOE Order 426.2) and Management
- Participate in worker involvement, including input to work planning and methods to identify hazards and controls
- Understand a worker s right to stop work when safety is jeopardized
- Attend required safety meetings and training; offer suggestions for improvements to the work environment
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be able to perform all duties and functions outlined above
- Must meet initial employment requirements
- Must be able to read, write, and comprehend applicable written and/or oral instructions
- Must be physically fit to perform job functions as determined by Medical Evaluation
- All qualifications, work history, training, and education are to be verified by direct contact with former employers and/or documented proof; ability to perform the functions will be determined by a comprehensive interview and background evaluation
- Must have relevant experience operating a forklift
- Internal Candidates:
- Minimum of three (3) years of work experience as Material Handler, Hazmat Transporter, or Expediter at Pantex
- Current forklift license
- External Candidates:
- Minimum five (5) years of experience including forklift operation as a significant part of the job
- Current forklift license
- Must successfully complete a Self-Assessment
- Self-Assessments are for external applicants only
- High School diploma or GED
- In addition to the above requirements, applicants must meet DOE O 426.2A requirements (high school diploma or a DOE O 426.2A equivalent).
