Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position requiring Epic EMR experience and a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.

• Mixed Med/Surg and intermediate care unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratio ranges from 1:4 to 1:6 depending on shift assignment
• Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00)
• Epic EMR experience required
• No local candidates accepted — candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Provides care to a mixed medical/surgical and intermediate care patient population
• Preferred clinical skills include BiPAP/CPAP management, wound vac care, management of cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration), and experience with post-cardiac surgery, post-MI, and post-angiogram patients
• Orientation includes onsite modules averaging 4–6 hours for RNs, completed during orientation
• Former permanent staff must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible to return as a traveler
• No RTO during the first week of orientation; no more than 3 RTO days will be auto-approved, and no RTO on holidays
• Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

• Active TX or Compact RN license required
• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required
• BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS Stroke Scale certification preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Med/Surg experience required; telemetry experience preferred
• Skills include IV therapy, peripheral line and PICC line management, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and blood product administration
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
