Overview

Responsible for providing professional nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices. Assists physicians and staff in coordinating patient care and functions as the primary liaison between patients, staff, and physicians.

This position is located at FMC on Coulter. Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm.

Responsibilities
  • Provides general nursing care to patients and administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
  • Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies and materials, ensuring cleanliness. Prepares lists of medical supplies needed and equipment for physician assistance during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
  • Observes, records, and reports patients’ condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians. Dispenses medication as directed and educates patient/family about diagnostic procedures, medication, nutrition, and maintenance of health and wellness.
  • Greets patients and prepares them for physician examination, screens patients for appropriate information, and instructs patients in collection of samples and tests.
  • Maintains and reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information, and posts test and examination results.
  • Responds to and refers incoming patient treatment–related phone calls, instructing patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
Qualifications & Skills
  • State LVN license.
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, regulations, and practices to give and evaluate patient care.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish/maintain a safe work environment.
  • Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care.
  • Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions.
  • Proficiency in preparing/maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to calls/correspondence.
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards.
  • React calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Clear communication skills.
  • Varied activities including standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting; requires full range of body motion, handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, and ability to stand and walk for extensive periods. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Corrected vision and hearing to normal range required. Must work under stressful conditions or irregular hours.
