Job Overview
Northwest Physicians Group formed in 2013 with a focus towards population health management. The group has grown to a network of over 40 providers serving patients at numerous primary, specialty and urgent care locations in Amarillo, Texas. Northwest Physicians Group is affiliated with Northwest Texas Healthcare System, a 495‑bed acute care hospital that serves approximately 650,000 residents of the Texas Panhandle and surrounding region.
The system provides acute care services including cardiac, pediatric, women’s, emergency, surgical and behavioral health care.
Position: RN / Registered Nurse / Lake View Cardiology
Summary:
This position is responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care duties, including assisting in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
- Interview patients, measure vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height), perform venipuncture and procedures as directed by the physician.
- Document in the Electronic Medical Record in accordance with IPM guidelines.
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examination.
- Assist in covering the front desk as required.
- Execute prescribed treatments and medical interventions, administer prescribed medications, and monitor and document treatment progress and patient response.
- Delegate tasks as allowed under the Nurse Practice Act.
- Refer to or consult with physicians, other health providers, and community resources to prevent or resolve problems or concerns.
- Educate patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions.

- Graduate of an accredited or NLN‑approved RN program. BSN preferred.
- BLS from the American Heart Association (or obtained during orientation) and maintain certification throughout employment.
- Current state nursing license or permit to practice nursing in Texas.
- Minimum of one to three (1‑3) years working as a registered nurse. Three to five (3‑5) years of related experience preferred.
- Proficiency in basic computer programs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
- Proficient with an EKG machine.
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Ability to communicate with patients, families, staff, physicians, support agencies, vendors, and others.
- Ability to remain calm during stressful situations.
- Ability to respond to pages.
- Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions.
- Ability to repeatedly twist, squat, and stoop.
- Bending, lifting (minimum of 25 pounds), grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing, and pulling.
- Exposure to infectious organisms, agents, and toxic chemicals.
- Occasional irregular hours.
- Must be able to see with corrective eyewear.
