ResponsibilitiesAssumes shift responsibility and accountability for the planning and provision of direct and indirect nursing care to patients, families, care partners and appropriate others. Coordinates multidisciplinary team members, directs and facilitates nursing staff to achieve safe, optimal health‑care outcomes. Provides professional leadership and support to the healthcare team. Demonstrates service excellence and puts patient‑centered care at the foundation of all nursing care.
Provisionof Services
Develops, implements, and evaluates an age‑appropriate plan of care utilizing the nursing process, clinical skills, and patient education. Maintains professional behavior when addressing issues or conflicts, using appropriate resources as needed. Creates an environment conducive to safety for patients, families, visitors, and employees. Assesses risks to patient safety and implements appropriate precautions. Complies with all approved standards, accrediting agency requirements, and safety and injury‑prevention guidelines to minimize risk to self, co‑workers, patients, and visitors.
LeadershipExcellence
Utilizes appropriate leadership skills in delegating tasks and providing feedback concerning staff performance. Demonstrates initiative, a collaborative approach, and sound judgment in day‑to‑day unit management.
Operational ExcellenceManages department outcomes, including patient, family, peer, employee, and physician satisfaction through effective communication and responsiveness to customer issues. Holds accountability for appropriate staffing for each shift, based on patient census, acuity, and available resources.

- Graduate of an accredited or NLN‑approved RN program; BSN required or must be enrolled in a program with completion within 2 years.
- Successfully passes any pre‑employment assessment(s) required by the facility.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association on hire or within 30 days of start date; maintain certification throughout employment.
- Current state nursing license or permit to practice in Texas.
- Minimum of one year full‑time or three years part‑time experience in acute care specialty nursing; one to three years of supervisory experience preferred.
- De‑escalation training within 90 days of hire; does not require maintenance.
