Position Description
The Head Nurse is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating patient care services (primarily nursing services) within an assigned specialty or sub-specialty area of a clinic. Persons in this position provide supervision and coordination of service to subordinate nursing personnel and may provide various levels of direct patient care. Work is performed under usual clinic conditions.

Persons in this position provide supervision and coordination of service to subordinate nursing personnel and may provide various levels of direct patient care. Work is performed under usual clinic conditions.
Major/Essential Functions- Provides clinical leadership and daily oversight of nursing operations within the OBGYN clinic.
- Coordinates patient care, staffing, assignments, and workflow to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality services.
- Supervises, mentors, and evaluates nursing staff while ensuring compliance with clinical policies, regulatory standards, and evidence-based practices.
- Collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary teams, manages patient concerns, supports quality improvement initiatives, monitors clinical outcomes, and ensures appropriate documentation, communication, and continuity of patient care.
- Performs occasional duties including assisting with staff orientation and training, participating in quality improvement projects, supporting clinic audits and regulatory reviews, updating policies and procedures, assisting with inventory and supply management, providing input on staffing and scheduling needs, participating in emergency preparedness activities, and representing nursing services during meetings or special projects.
Graduate from an approved accredited nursing program. Current RN license in the State of Texas or ability to obtain a Texas license. At least four years in nursing, with at least two of those years in a supervisory capacity.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience in an OBGYN or other clinic setting.
- Employment experience of progressive supervision.
- Demonstrated knowledge of nursing standards and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with EMR, Touchworks preferred.
