Responsibilities- Visually inspects procured items for suspect/counterfeit items.
- Performs records and data review of support documents to verify compliance with written procedures.
- Obtains related documentation for preparation of witnessing or performing inspections.
- Reviews quality‑related records for accuracy and completeness.
- Responsible for visual inspection of items to identify compliance with design agency specifications.
- Performs assignments with a high degree of quality and efficiency, exercising prescribed safety and security measures.
- Works effectively with managers, co‑workers, representatives of other departments/divisions, and outside agencies.
- Follows prescribed standards of housekeeping and cleanliness of work area to ensure safety and efficient operations.
- Responsible for detecting defects in material and workmanship.
- Responsible for care and protection of assigned materials and/or equipment.
- Performs functions with a high degree of accuracy in all phases of duties under general supervision.
- Maintains knowledge of applicable Federal, State, DOE, Corporate and Plant rules, regulations, Labor Agreements and Plant‑wide operating policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Required to attend and/or successfully complete indoctrination, training classes, and qualification requirements as determined by Quality & Performance Assurance management and the Technical Training Department.
- Participates in worker involvement, including input to work planning and methods to identify hazards and controls.
- Understands a worker’s right to stop work when they feel personal safety is jeopardized.
- Attends all required safety meetings and training; offers suggestions on improvements to the work environment.
- Bachelor’s degree:
Minimum 4 years of relevant experience. - Master’s degree:
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience. - PhD: [experience requirements specified].
- Applicants without a bachelor’s degree may be considered based on a combination of at least 12 years of completed education and/or relevant experience.
Applicants must also meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., high school diploma, or a DOE O 426.2A alternative). DOE O 426.2A experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities.
Preferred Requirements- Understanding of quality assurance principles, concepts, practices, and standards.
- Works in‑depth and as a lead with various departments without appreciable direction to ensure inspections, assessments, statistical process control analyses and audits are conducted continuously as specified.
- Operates with initiative and has ability to follow through energetically with a plan or task.
- Generates and explores ideas and/or solutions to a variety of problems and assesses the likely success of an idea in relation to the demands of the situation, without appreciable direction.
- Critical thinking skills using logic and analysis to identify strengths and weaknesses of different approaches.
- Strong interpersonal skills to relate to others, build rapport and establish positive working relationships.
- Delivers information clearly and effectively through oral and written communication.
- Develops solutions to complex problems requiring ingenuity and innovation.
- Ensures solutions are consistent with organization objectives.
- Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.
- Requires a Q clearance; all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of current clearance status. Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance is required.
- Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP); if HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence‑scope polygraph pursuant to 10 CFR 709.

- Employees may be required to receive and maintain a security clearance from the DOE to meet eligibility requirements for access to sensitive information or matter.
