We're seeking multiple experienced Cx-QA/QC Specialists to join one of two dedicated four-person project teams supporting the quality assurance and quality control program for two large-scale data center construction projects in Amarillo, Texas. As part of this team, you'll work collaboratively on a rotating schedule, committing to a minimum of 50 hours per week (inclusive of travel), to ensure the highest standards of quality across every phase of these mission-critical builds.
This is a field-based position requiring regular weekly travel and on-site work at client project locations, as assigned. The initial assignment is in Amarillo, TX. The initial assignment is expected to last several months, with future assignments varying based on project needs and client requirements. Candidates must maintain a permanent residence and be willing to travel to assigned project sites on a weekly basis.
The company offers travel expense reimbursement in accordance with company policy.
Position Overview:
The Cx-QA/QC Specialist ensures that electrical and mechanical systems in data center projects meet all quality, safety, and operational requirements.
This role combines proactive oversight with responsive problem-solving to ensure that mechanical and electrical systems are properly designed, installed, tested, and commissioned in accordance with owner expectations, safety standards, and industry best practices. Due to the hazards associated with electrical systems, the specialist supports and coordinates closely with the Energy Marshall, confirming all pre-energization verifications and documentation are complete before startup.
Working collaboratively with contractors, engineers, and customer teams, the specialist maintains professionalism under pressure and encourages a cooperative, improvement-oriented culture.
The ideal candidate possesses in-depth experience in mechanical systems and electrical commissioning, a solid understanding of data center operations, a strong safety awareness, and excellent communication and analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Commissioning Activities
- Ensure all electrical and mechanical systems are installed, tested, and performing in accordance with project specifications, design intent, and applicable codes and standards.
- Review Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) results for major equipment and track closure of open or deferred items with vendors and site teams prior to functional testing.
- Audit GC and trade inspection checklists for accuracy and completeness, and perform independent QA/QC inspections with full documentation of findings.
- Develop and maintain commissioning plans, schedules, and test procedures for mechanical systems.
- Conduct proactive inspections through L1–L3 phases to confirm proper handling, installation, and readiness of equipment such as switch gear, PDUs, UPS systems, transformers, CRAC, VFD's, pumps, and generators.
- Verify that pre-functional and startup testing (L3) are properly executed and documented by trade contractors, ensuring all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and energization activities are coordinated with the site Energy Marshall.
- Validate system integration and interoperability between mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
- Identify deficiencies and manage corrective actions through retesting and verification prior to turnover to the commissioning team.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Prepare, maintain, and track QA/QC documentation—including inspection reports, checklists, MOPs, and test verification forms—within approved customer platforms.
- Compile and submit comprehensive commissioning reports and turnover packages that include test results, lessons learned, and as-built documentation.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Coordinate daily with project managers, design engineers, contractors, and client representatives to align quality and commissioning activities with project milestones.
