Service Ops Asst. Manager

Overview

The Assistant Service Manager is responsible for guest relations and satisfaction. They assume total store responsibility in the absence of the Store Director, Assistant Store Director, Grocery Manager, and Service Manager. They serve as Controller of cash and returned checks and assist the Service Manager in achieving front-end productivity goals while maintaining superior guest service and satisfaction.

• When a guest enters the area or department, acknowledge, greet, and engage the guest as the first priority
• Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, performance management (including disciplinary actions and separations), and productivity of all service counter team members, bookkeepers, maintenance, fuel clerks, floral clerks in non-floral stores, checkers, and sackers; coordinate scheduling with the Grocery Manager
• Assist with the management of all Service Counter functions
• Assist with initial interviews for all departments and new team member orientations, including initial and ongoing paperwork and proper documentation when appropriate
• Assist with supervising and ensuring proper checking and bagging techniques
• Assist with proper bookkeeping procedures
• Assist with ordering supplies for front-end maintenance of the store and coordinate needs with the Grocery Manager
• Assist with performance evaluations and coaching sessions of all team members within the department, with timely completion
• Assist with sharing general store information for the Spirit and Spirit Too publications in stores with no Talent Relations Manager
• Assist with public relations and Spirit initiatives within the store in locations without a Talent Relations Manager
• Assist with payroll and accounting procedures and their implementation in stores without a Talent Relations Manager
• Assist with delegating and assigning trainers as needed
• Ensure cleanliness and appearance of the entire front-end, including check stands, floors, exterior front of the store, parking lot, etc.
• In stores without a Talent Relations Manager, assist the Service Manager as the designated human resources contact to handle hiring, training, and orientation objectives
• Safeguard, control, and monitor all store assets, ensuring policies and procedures for asset control are implemented
• Support overall guest and team member safety
• Greet and speak politely with every customer on premises
• Performs other duties as requested or required by management

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Required to work 40 hours per week, with opening, closing, and day shifts as needed
• Maintain Certified Food Safety Manager certification
• Minimum of one year store experience
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods (up to 6 hours)
• Perform all other physical aspects of the job including bending, squatting, lifting, climbing, and walking
• Ability to function as a team member and get along with others
