Job SummaryThe Field Technician - Critical Infrastructure plays a crucial role in supporting the construction of hyperscale and colocation data centers, overseeing projects ranging from 40 MW to 200 MW. This hands‑on position entails installation, testing, and support tasks under the supervision of Senior Field Technicians, Field Leads, and the Site Superintendent.
A strong emphasis on quality execution, reliability, and safety compliance is essential, while also developing the skills necessary for progression to senior field roles.
Essential Functions Field Installation & Support (50%)- Carry out installation and support tasks such as device mounting, cable routing, terminations, labeling, and equipment setup.
- Assist with testing, checkout, and verification activities as directed.
- Effectively utilize hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Receive daily work direction from Senior Field Technicians and Field Leads.
- Coordinate task sequencing with adjacent trades as instructed.
- Communicate progress updates, material requests, and issues to field leadership.
- Support material staging, inventory management, and tool readiness.
- Execute all work in adherence to OSHA, NFPA 70E, STC safety protocols, and project-specific safety standards.
- Engage in daily toolbox talks and pre-task planning.
- Comply with PPE requirements and maintain safe work practices.
- Immediately identify and report any unsafe conditions or quality concerns.
- Assist with redlines, punchlists, and task closeout documentation as requested.
- Support testing documentation and issue tracking as needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Position Requirements- 2-4 years of experience in construction, electrical, controls, or related fields (mission‑critical experience preferred but not mandatory).
- Familiarity with basic installation practices, tools, and safety protocols on job sites.
- Ability to interpret drawings, instructions, and work plans.
- Eagerness to learn and follow guidance in a fast‑paced construction setting.
- Strong work ethic, dependability, and keen attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills with field leadership and colleagues.
The employee must meet the following physical demands to successfully perform the role.
- Frequently manipulating, moving, or gripping tools, devices, and materials.
- Regularly walking and working in busy construction settings, including climbing ladders and traversing uneven terrain.
- Regularly exposure to varying indoor and outdoor conditions, including heat, cold, dust, and noise.
- Occasionally required to position oneself beneath or over equipment, including in tight spaces.
- Occasionally required to lift or move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Regularly required to wear PPE and work in high‑noise settings.
- A valid driver's license is required; ability to rent vehicles.
- Full‑time presence at the assigned project site is mandatory.
- Willingness to work extended hours and night shifts during critical execution phases.
