Position Overview

Distribution Journeyman Lineman Serviceman – Amarillo, TX.

• Installation, maintenance, and removal of overhead and underground distribution conductors and equipment.
• Climb poles and perform work on energized conductors and equipment.
• Execute hot‑stick work on energized high‑voltage conductors.
• Operate in inclement weather and be available for call‑outs and other duties as required.
• Carry out all tasks outlined in the Journeyman Serviceman position description.

• Must successfully score on the Journeyman Assessment.
• Hold a Journeyman Lineman Certification approved by the Department of Labor.
• Possess a Class A CDL.
• Be capable of performing all aspects of electric distribution overhead, underground, construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Be available for emergency call‑outs as per a schedule.
• Have effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Travel for extended periods may be required.
• Be physically fit, able to lift up to 90 pounds, and pass a physical examination.
• Have experience with bucket trucks, digger derricks, trenchers, and groundwork with utility line crews.
• Maintain a high awareness of safety and compliance with company safety rules at all times.
• Reside within 20 miles of the Amarillo, TX service center.
• Selection criteria may include testing and/or assessment.
• Pass the Xcel Energy security and drug screening.

• Well‑rounded knowledge of distribution primary feeders, transformer loading, and fusing practices, including meter sets, hot‑line tools, protective devices, fuses, lightning arrestors, disconnect switches, breakers, grounding sets, transformers, and troubleshooting.

Starting base pay: $53.16 per hour.
