Commercial HVAC Service Technician

Location:

Amarillo | Job Type: Full-Time

Pay

$28.00 – $45.00 per hour. Final rate is based on professional experience, technical ability, overall performance, and engagement in ongoing training programs.

Position Summary

West Techs Chill Water Specialist is seeking a Commercial HVAC Service Technician to service, maintain, and repair air‑conditioning systems in commercial and industrial environments. This position fits a technician who can confidently manage routine service calls independently while continuing to advance into more complex systems and higher‑capacity equipment.

You’ll collaborate with our service leadership and technical teams to diagnose issues, restore equipment functionality, and provide a professional, customer‑focused service experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on commercial HVAC equipment
  • Respond to scheduled service calls and complete work safely and efficiently
  • Assist with diagnostics and repairs on larger systems (25+ tons) as experience grows
  • Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, sequences of operation, and manufacturer literature
  • Evaluate system condition and support repair or replacement recommendations
  • Communicate findings, options, and next steps clearly to customers and team members
  • Accurately document service activity using company software
  • Participate in a rotating on‑call schedule for emergency service needs
  • Provide feedback to leadership regarding training needs, parts usage, and jobsite concerns
  • Maintain company‑issued vehicle, tools, and work areas in a clean, professional manner
Required Experience & Skills
  • Universal EPA Certification
  • Proven experience servicing commercial HVAC systems
  • Ability to read and apply electrical and mechanical documentation
  • Working knowledge of commercial troubleshooting methods
  • 2–5 years of hands‑on commercial HVAC experience (large‑tonnage exposure preferred)
  • Strong customer service and communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently while recognizing when escalation is appropriate
  • Commitment to ongoing technical development and accountability for assigned tasks
  • Strong organizational habits and attention to detail
Schedule
  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • One‑hour lunch
  • Rotating on‑call schedule
  • Occasional nights or weekends depending on service demands
