Line Worker Apprentice; 1st - 4th Year - Amarillo, TX

Xcel Energy is looking to fill multiple Apprentice Line Worker (1st Year - 4th year) positions for our Amarillo, TX location(s). As an apprentice lineman you will be taught a very rewarding career in constructing, maintenance, removal and storm restoration of high voltage distribution and transmission lines. Xcel Energy has a very reputable Department of Labor certified apprentice program that is recognized throughout the United States.

Position will be responsible for construction, maintenance and operations. Supports maintenance and emergency repairs of distribution and transmission lines.

• Must have a High School diploma or GED
• Must have a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL Class
  
  A) or ability to acquire it within 120 days of start date.
• Must have successfully taken the EEI CAST Assessment
• Must be totally committed to safety, quality work and customer service
• Must be able and willing to respond to after hour and weekend call outs
• Position could possibly require travel for extended time periods
• Apprentices are required to attend 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year apprentice schools
• Must exhibit a mental competency, be able to communicate, comprehend instructions, and build on prior experience
• Must exhibit a teamwork attitude and be able to work with others
• Must be of adequate physical stature to lift and maneuver up to 90 lbs., climb wood poles up to 100' tall, perform aerial work in a safety belt, use shovels, sledgehammers, and 90 lb jack hammers, work in confined areas, and pass the federal DOT physical examination.
• Must reside within 20 miles of any of the Amarillo Service Centers

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is $30.93 to $38.17 per hour.
