Xcel Energy is looking to fill a Fleet Mechanic A, B, or C based in our Southwest Amarillo, TX Service Center!

This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of fleet vehicles operated by Xcel Energy Corp. The role involves preventive maintenance, minor and major repairs on cars, trucks, aerial devices, construction equipment, and other company‑operated equipment. It is a Monday‑Friday shift.

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in automotive and/or truck maintenance and repair
• Minimum of 8 certifications from ASE or equivalent (able to acquire within 6 months of hire; extension evaluated after 6 months due to COVID)
• Certifications may include FPS, State Welding, manufacturing engine repair, hydraulic repair, truck and chassis electronics repair, etc.
• Current Class A CDL and a DOT medical card (or ability to obtain a Class A CDL within 120 days of employment)
• Willingness to respond to after‑hour emergency work, callouts and overtime as assigned
• Fitness to lift 50 lbs, and ability to work from elevated heights and off ladders
• Self‑motivated and capable of working alone

• High school diploma or GED, plus a technical, vocational or trade school diploma/degree in automotive truck or heavy equipment service repair, or 3 years of continuous work history in this field (or equivalent military/veterans training)
• Minimum of 2 years verifiable experience in the automotive/truck field
• Must possess or obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (Class
  
  A) within 3 months of hire at the employee’s expense
• 6 current ASE automotive or truck certifications (or equivalent) – able to acquire within 6 months of hire
• Ability to read and understand English, perform basic mathematics, and possess basic computer skills
• Must furnish standard and metric tools per fleet department’s tool list
• High level of safety awareness and demonstrated commitment to working safely at all times
