Data Center Building Engineer Responsibilities
- Maintain, monitor, and perform preventive maintenance and continuous operation of all building systems to maintain 100% uptime, including fire/life safety, mechanical systems such as HVAC, chillers, crac, crah, plumbing, controls, and electrical systems including emergency backup such as lighting, UPS, ATS, STS, PDU, generators, primary switch gear, power distribution, transformers, and hot water systems.
- Monitor operation, adjust, and maintain refrigeration, chilled water, and air conditioning equipment; boilers, ventilation and water heaters; pumps, valves, piping, filters; and other mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Record readings and make adjustments where necessary to ensure proper operation of equipment.
- Analyze operation of various systems, determine causes of problems or malfunctions, and take corrective action.
- Comply with departmental policy for safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Maintain a clean and safe workplace.
- Learn and understand the data center site to manage incidents and events that risk critical systems.
- Manage work orders, including CMMS, vendor management, and customer-facing tickets.
- Understand and comply with emergency escalation procedures.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Frequent walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, stooping, and working/extending overhead.
- Walk large campus-like settings.
- Lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Climb stairs and navigate rooftops to access equipment.
- Use ladders up to 30 ft and work from heights.
- Climb a ladder with a 300-lb weight limit.
- Work different schedules.
- Work holidays.
- Respond to site emergencies.
- Required:
2+ years experience working in a data center or critical facility. - Experience with building systems including UPS systems, emergency generators, and switch gear.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of computer applications including MS Office, Google Suite, and CMMS.
- Preferred:
Corrigo experience, Universal EPA 608 certification, trained in NFPA
70E.
- On-site – Amarillo, TX.
