We are seeking an experienced Communication Wire worker to install, maintain, test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, fiber optic, structured cabling, and low-voltage communication systems. This role supports critical communications infrastructure across substations, data centers, operations facilities, and field locations.
Responsibilities- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems supporting communications infrastructure.
- Install, terminate, test, and certify copper and fiber optic cabling systems.
- Perform fiber splicing, OTDR testing, power meter testing, and certification testing.
- Install and support MDFs, IDFs, network rooms, communications shelters, and data center infrastructure.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and telecommunications drawings.
- Support WAN, LAN, SCADA, radio, microwave, and security system deployments.
- Conduct site surveys, maintain documentation, and update as-built drawings.
- Ensure all work meets safety, quality, and industry standards.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Technical school, apprenticeship, or vocational training.
- 5+ years of experience in electrical construction, telecommunications, structured cabling, or a related field.
- Experience with copper and fiber optic communications systems.
- Journeyman Electrician License (where required).
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Strong knowledge of AC/DC electrical systems, fiber optics, ANSI/TIA standards, and BICSI best practices.
- Ability to use testing equipment, fusion splicers, OTDRs, and certification testers.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills.
- BICSI Installer 2 Copper and/or Optical Fiber certifications.
- BICSI RCDD certification.
- Fiber Optic Association (FOA) certifications.
- Manufacturer certifications such as Comm Scope, Corning, Panduit, or Leviton.
- Lift up to 75 lbs.
- Work at heights, climb ladders, and access confined spaces.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Travel to multiple project sites as needed.
