Industrial Engineering Technician

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Communication Wire worker to support the installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and communications infrastructure. This role combines electrical expertise with telecommunications and network infrastructure experience to support critical communication systems across substations, service centers, control centers, data centers, office facilities, and field locations. The ideal candidate has strong experience with electrical systems, fiber optic and structured cabling infrastructure, and telecommunications installations, along with a commitment to safety, quality, and technical excellence.

• Install, modify, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems supporting communications and network infrastructure
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, riser diagrams, and construction drawings
• Install conduit, cable tray systems, raceways, grounding systems, and related infrastructure
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on electrical systems supporting telecommunications equipment
• Ensure compliance with electrical codes, industry standards, and safety requirements

• Install, terminate, test, certify, and troubleshoot copper and fiber optic cabling systems
• Perform CAT6A, CAT7, multimode fiber, and single-mode fiber installations
• Conduct fiber splicing, OTDR testing, power meter testing, and certification testing
• Support MDF, IDF, communications shelters, data centers, and network room infrastructure li>
• Maintain cabling documentation, labeling, and cable management standards li>

• Support communication infrastructure projects across operational facilities and field locations
• Assist with WAN, LAN, SCADA, radio, microwave, security, and utility communication system deployments
• Perform site surveys and assess communication infrastructure requirements
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, technicians, and project managers
• Support installation and maintenance activities in indoor and outdoor environments

• Perform certification testing of installed communications infrastructure
• Maintain accurate as-built drawings, test records, inventory documentation, and installation records
• Document deficiencies and recommend corrective actions
• Ensure all work meets company quality and workmanship standards

• Follow all company safety policies and established work practices
• Participate in safety meetings, job hazard assessments, and safety briefings
• Maintain required qualifications and certifications
• Ensure all work is conducted safely and professionally

• High School Diploma or GED
• Technical school, vocational training, or apprenticeship completion
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in:
  • Electrical construction
  • Telecommunications
  • Structured cabling
  • Communications infrastructure
• Experience with copper and fiber optic communication systems
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and telecommunications drawings
• Valid Driver’s License
• Journeyman Electrician License (where required by state or local jurisdiction) or equivalent verifiable electrical experience
• BICSI Technician (TECH) Certification

• Strong understanding of AC and DC electrical systems
• Knowledge of structured cabling standards and industry best practices
• Fiber optic installation, splicing, and testing experience
• Experience operating:
  • Fusion splicers
  • OTDR equipment
  • Certification testers
  • Lifts and ladders
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

• BICSI Installer 2 Copper Certification
• BICSI Installer 2 Optical Fiber Certification
• BICSI RCDD Certification
• Fiber Optic Association (FOA) certifications
• Fluke testing and certification experience
• Manufacturer certifications from cable and infrastructure providers
• Experience supporting:
  • Data centers
  • SCADA systems
  • Utility communications networks
  • Security systems
  • Wireless and microwave infrastructure
• Experience with utility, industrial, or critical infrastructure environments
