This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Maintenance Mechanic I - Locksmith who will be all-in on our mission and who will perform work in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of campus facilities and building systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, locksmithing, sign fabrication, and general mechanical equipment. This position supports the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of college facilities through preventive maintenance, timely corrective repairs, and assistance with renovation and improvement projects.

The Maintenance Mechanic I ensures work is completed in accordance with applicable codes, safety standards, and Amarillo College service expectations.

Required:

High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred:
Associates Degree.

Required:

Two (2) years of experience in maintenance and repair.

Preferred:
Four (4) years of journeyman-level experience.

Required:

Valid Texas Class C Driver's License with a minimum three (3) year safe driving record.

Preferred:
Locksmithing certification/experience.

• Perform installation, repair and preventive maintenance work.
• Perform periodic inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment and related systems.
• Keep all plumbing in usable condition and in good working order.
• Assist in the remodeling of facilities.
• Maintain heating and cooling units and assists in the replacement of old systems.
• Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of vehicles, equipment and supplies.
• Required to interact with all levels of departmental personnel, community, and management and maintain a high level of professional at all times, especially when dealing with resistance or hostility.
• Participate in and complete performance assessments/evaluations as assigned.
• Follow established safety procedures, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
• Use proper lifting techniques and material-handling equipment when moving heavy objects.
• Complete assigned work orders accurately and in a timely manner.
• Cut and issue new or replacement keys in accordance with approved Key Request forms.
• Repair or replace locks for desks, file cabinets, display cases, and similar equipment.
• Fabricate campus signs and decals using computerized sign-making equipment and software; ensure consistent design and branding standards.
• Complete all work-related documentation, including work orders, inventory logs, and timesheets, in a timely and accurate manner.
• Coordinate with team leaders to prioritize and complete assigned projects and work orders efficiently.
• Perform other related duties as required.
