The Independent Living Program Coordinator will provide direct support to youth aging out of foster care and skill building.
  • Coordinates and conducts monthly Regional Youth Advisory Council meetings.
  • Maintains communications and working relationship with appropriate entity contacts regarding current Independent Living activities in the State.
  • Primary contact for the State of Nebraska Independent Living Program Director
  • Attends DHHS Independent Living meetings.
  • Maintains contact with DHHS Independent Living liaisons, as needed.
  • Coordinates all activities for State computer camps.
  • Coordinates and conduct tours to post-secondary education sites
  • Obtains and disburses resource and scholarship information.
  • Trains staff regarding Independent Living transition paperwork and timelines, as needed.
  • Writes and distributes Independent Living newsletter.
  • Serves as resource for workers regarding specialty areas for youth leaving the child welfare system.
  • Provides direct services to youth leaving the child welfare system as requested by supervisors and/or area directors.
  • Seeks and identifies grant opportunities.
  • Implements Saint Francis Ministries policies and follows directives as required. Follows and adheres to all pertinent Saint Francis Ministries Standard Operating procedures (SOP's), rules, personnel policies, and procedures; related accreditation and licensure standards; and federal, state, and local rules, statutes, regulations, and contractual terms.
  • Reports unusual incidents through appropriate Risk Management, clinical and safety channels.
  • Ensure clients' rights are protected.
  • Is knowledgeable of and follows all safety procedures
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Service field
  • One-year child welfare direct service or related experience.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Must pass a drug screen, Nebraska Child Abuse and Neglect Registry Clearance, any background checks deemed to be necessary.
  • Lifting requirements 50 lbs.
  • Must have a valid NE driver's license, acceptable driving record and reliable transportation
