Job Summary

Apollo Med Flight is seeking a dedicated Operations Control Specialist (OCS) to join our Operations Control Center (OCC). In this role, you will exercise operational control authority, providing essential operational guidance to flight crews in accordance with FAA regulations (14 CFR 135.619) and company policies. You will be responsible for monitoring flight operations, providing weather briefings, conducting preflight risk analyses, and responding to aviation-related emergencies.

This is a fast‑paced role where attention to detail, multitasking, and clear communication are essential.

The Operations Control Center (OCC) is under the direct supervision of the OCC Manager, with authority granted by the Director of Operations. Our Operations Control Specialists (OCS) exercise operational control authority and provide operational guidance, in accordance with 14 CFR 135.619 and the company General Operations Manual (GOM), to flight crews regarding regulatory compliance issues and company policy and procedure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complying with all directives and guidance of the Apollo Med Flight’s General Operations Manual, Policy & Procedures, Company Bulletins, Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • Interact and provide quality customer service with Apollo Med Flight’s Communication Center as well as all partner communication centers. Promptly elevate operational, personnel, or customer conflicts or concerns.
  • Responsible for monitoring all flight operations.
  • Provide pilots with weather briefings, including current and forecast weather along the planned route of flight.
  • Participate in the preflight risk analysis required under FAR 135.617.
  • Activate, when necessary, the Post‑Accident/Incident Plan and serve as the corporate point of contact for all aviation‑related emergencies until relieved by a member of the Executive Team. Once all incidents are resolved, please provide feedback and debrief information to both Apollo and their respective aviation partners.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Able to work shift work on a rotating schedule, including day shift, mid shift, and night shift, including weekends and holidays.
  • Able to work independently in a high pace and high stress environment, and maintain composure under pressure, while working effectively and accurately with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to communicate professionally, effectively and persuasively, both orally and in writing, at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work within a strong team environment.
  • Excellent public relations, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent computer and typing skills and ability to multi‑task multiple computer applications at one time.
  • Must possess 121 Dispatching Certificate or be able to complete 12 months after being enrolled by Apollo.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • FAA Part 121 Dispatcher Certification.
  • Private Pilot Certificate or Pilot Instrument Rating (any category).
  • Prior OCC experience in the Helicopter Air Ambulance (HAA) industry.
Working Conditions

  • Able to utilize good time and resource management in a time of critical thinking
  • Show competency in reading different types of maps and the orientation of each.
