The Role

Under the direction of the Working Shop Supervisor – Assembly
, the Assembly I role is responsible for inspecting, disassembling, and assembling new and used equipment for the steel industry.

Requirements

Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Key Result Items

  • Disassemble Andritz and customer supplied equipment, such as levelers, slitters, choppers, shears, mandrels, scrap cutters, bearing chocks, manual mill housings, stretch mill housings, piercer mill, and mandrel mill rolls.
  • Inspect and write inspection reports including recommendations for repair.
  • Make repairs.
  • Final assembly, testing and create final completion reports.

Knowledge

  • Technical knowledge and the ability to read blueprints
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, presses, pullers, torches, welders, microme ters, and calipers.
  • Ability to operate an overhead crane and fork truck.
  • Capable of Stick and Mig Welding.
  • Ability to plumb hydraulic equipment.

Job Specific Competencies

  • Capable of performing mechanical machine maintenance for shop equipment.
  • Good understanding of quality control principals.

Education and Experience

  • 2 years’ experience as an assembler.
  • Ability to build all equipment with some supervision.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • As required to individually complete key result items
