Under general supervision procures assigned products, materials, and services for the market, locations, inventory plan and networking capital objectives. Troubleshoots procurement issues and expedites orders to meet production and customer needs. Responsible for allocation and replenishment processes using inventory planning tools to determine quantities when needed. Able to maintain strong vendor, supplier, and location relationships.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Purchases specifically assigned products by contacting vendors and suppliers to obtain information concerning product, price, availability, and delivery time.
- Assists in the evaluation of goods and services by analyzing competitor pricing strategies, researching trends and tracking orders.
- Ensures all products are received in condition consistent with original request or bid and resolves issues concerning materials and/or services at the department and vendor level.
- Coordinates returns and/or replacement of products and generates appropriate paperwork for inventory tracking and accounting purposes.
- Addresses customer service concerns from suppliers, field operations, and cross-functional departments
- Assists operations with sourcing specialty items, freight/carrier information, order status, and timely processing of orders.
- Maintains department files including those pertaining to vendors, bids, quotes, and other correspondence.
- Other duties as assigned.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Minimum RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field
One (1) year purchasing experience
Or equivalent combination of education and experience
Competencies- Knowledge of material management and procurement function
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrate general understanding of inventory planning tools, ERP purchase to pay requirements, supply chain inventory planning concepts, inventory rebalancing to meet company inventory plans, and net working capital objectives
- Skill in establishing and maintain effective working relationships
- Good negotiating skills
- Ability to compose effective and efficient accounting reports
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, ERP System, and inventory planning tools
- Subject to both typical office environment and outside locations with temperature and weather variations.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and on occasion up to 80 pounds.
- Occasional travel by car or plane may be required.
