- Assists teachers, students and administrators (e.g., Chromebooks) for the purpose of identifying resource materials and equipment for use in classroom and/or class assignments.
- Conducts classes or activities in a variety of formats to promote the use and enjoyment of literature and technology.
- Establishes positive relationships with students to create a safe, comfortable environment.
- Evaluates books and/or periodicals for retention within the collection and recommends retirement of items as needed.
- Maintains materials inventory and collection (library books, hardware/software, media equipment, and related instructional materials).
- Monitors student activities within the Library Media Center to maintain a safe learning environment.
- Operates media production equipment and systems to provide media production services.
- Participates in meetings, in-service training, and workshops to perform functions effectively.
- Performs routine maintenance and checks on media equipment to ensure availability for school site use.
- Performs circulation duties (check-in/check-out, overdue lists, etc.) to control use and location of items.
- Prepares documents and reports (e.g., collection statistics, scheduling reports/requests, overdue lists, textbook orders, fines) for documentation and information sharing.
- Processes library books, periodicals, software and related materials (barcoding, shelving, reports) to provide required materials to students and staff.
- Processes new student library accounts and notices of missing, damaged, or overdue items to maintain access to library resources and secure reimbursement for losses.
- Provides student enrichment experiences to encourage reading and literacy.
- Repairs books and materials to ensure availability and longevity of resources.
- Researches instructional materials and sources to support student classroom assignments.
- Responds to inquiries from students, staff, and parents regarding availability of books and reference materials.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient operation of the work unit.
