Instructional Paraprofessional - Student Advocate
Lone Peak High School is seeking a caring, proactive, and relationship-focused Student Advocate to join our student support team. Student Advocates work closely with counselors, administrators, teachers, and families to help students overcome barriers, stay engaged in school, and earn the credits needed for graduation.
The job of Instructional Paraprofessional is done for the purpose of providing support to the instructional program within assigned classroom with specific responsibility for assisting in the supervision, care and instruction of special needs students in the resource classroom; assisting in implementing plans for instruction; monitoring student behavior during non-classroom time; and providing clerical support to teachers and staff.
Essential Functions:
- Work collaboratively with counselors, administrators, teachers, and families to help students achieve academic and personal success.
- Spend time in the hallways connecting with students, encouraging timely attendance, assisting students in getting to class, and helping maintain a positive school environment.
- Monitor student progress and run Flex reports to support weekly Student Success Team meetings.
- Assist students with homework, assignments, projects, studying, and test preparation as needed.
- Participate in home visits with counselors and administrators when appropriate to strengthen school-family partnerships.
- Escort students to and from classes when necessary to provide a safe, supportive, and productive learning environment.
- Observe and report student concerns, safety issues, behavioral incidents, or other significant observations to appropriate school personnel.
- Support school-wide initiatives that promote student engagement, attendance, graduation, and overall well-being.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of student success.
Requirements:
- Age 16+
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must complete mandatory employee training within the first 3 months of employment.
