The job of Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Engineer is performed for the purpose of ensuring the overall security compliance of the district network, servers, devices, technology services, data, and users in accordance with established Information Technology guidelines and best practices, including but not limited to network security, threat hunting, device hardening, incident investigation, and offering best practices for all IT solutions.

• Assist with the administration of district policies regarding the use of computers and data access (e.g., updating virus software, setting passwords) to ensure compliance.
• Advise and recommend security best practices for off‑site hosting to ensure the security of the district network and devices.
• Advise and recommend account security features and configurations to ensure essential application security measures.
• Assess data from multiple device management systems, gather, correlate, and identify devices of concern, coordinating with other team members to remediate systems with potential security issues.
• Conduct security tests, review results, and recommend best practices in collaboration with the technology leadership team for identifying network and device vulnerabilities.
• Investigate and document security breaches and other incidents to improve future prevention.
• Maintain a variety of manual and electronic files and records to document activities and provide audit trails.
• Maintain security measures to regulate access to confidential data and prevent unauthorized modifications, destruction, or disclosure.
• Monitor network security systems to address vulnerabilities and threats.
• Participate in meetings, workshops, or trainings to convey and gather required information.
• Perform initial security assessments of servers, switches, wireless systems, access points, and routers to meet basic processing needs.
• Prepare written materials such as procedures, documentation, reports, and memos to document activities.
• Provide general computer use and security training for efficient use of applications.
• Research current and emerging technologies to improve district functionality.
• Research software applications to provide comprehensive forensic reports as needed.
• Respond to help requests, repairs, training, and upgrades via telephone or e‑mail, scheduling appointments or referring to resources.
• Respond to inquiries from district personnel for support, technical advice, and operational assistance.
• Serve as advisor to the Student Data Security Committee to ensure proper protocols for securing student data.
• Build privacy into systems and products using privacy‑by‑design principles.
• Ensure adherence to industry standards and privacy regulations.
• Collaborate with design, product, IT, and legal and compliance teams as a liaison across departments.
• Build infrastructure supporting data privacy through appropriate software applications and best practices.
• Analyze and improve software designs or operating procedures from a privacy perspective, identifying vulnerabilities and reducing future risk.
• Evaluate third‑party vendors, understanding benefits and risks of partnerships.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• CISM, CISSP, CCNP Security, Security+, COMPTIA Security or equivalent experience.
• CDPSE, CIPP, CIPM, CDP or equivalent experience.
• Job‑related experience in a specialized field preferred in Cybersecurity and Data Privacy.
