The job of DEVOPS Solutions Architect - Team Lead is to take responsibility for the overall design of computer‑based network systems and solutions including Network Intranet segments, and other data communications systems; application integration, authentication processes, network protocols, firewall exceptions needed to allow key district system functionality, testing of new technology‑based systems (devices, computers, software and solutions) implementation, management, security compliance, verification, and maintenance of networking components throughout the District.
Designs and supports networking systems and supporting monitoring software for the network systems. Provides support for day‑to‑day operation of network LAN and WAN functionality with diverse networks. Trains technical staff on deployment methods, network troubleshooting, and best practices. Ensures security compliance of servers and workstations in accordance with information technology guidelines. Writes test plans, integration plans, and guides for technologies and services being deployed.
Oversees planning of new network systems and services, analyzing the impact on existing resources. Maintains support contracts of network hardware. Participates in making key decisions on updating network devices, virus protection, new technology deployment, and maintaining the security of existing district servers, applications, solutions, and chassis. Works with IT support staff throughout the District to assist in supporting enterprise systems.
This job reports to Assigned Supervisor.
Essential Functions- Administers district policies regarding use of computers and data access (e.g., updating Directory Service Client and Email Client, setting passwords, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring compliance with district policy and departmental guidelines.
- Routinely collaborates with team members on new technology solutions, applications, protocols, integrations, security of systems, data privacy of user data, authentication, network capabilities, and IT system availability.
- Works directly with the Director of Technology, Assistant Director of Technology, district administrators, and team members to ensure best of breed solutions, practices, and processes are considered, implemented, and used effectively.
- Conceptualizes design, analyzes and tests computer system‑based device networks (e.g., internet, intranet, application servers, content filtering, firewall, DMZ, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring secure, effective, and efficient systems.
- Assists with a variety of internal and external parties (e.g., programmers, database administrators, users, government agencies, etc.) for the purpose of architecting, designing, developing solutions, and ensuring project success.
- Participates and provides project management support in a variety of planning and development activities, including district‑wide committees for creating short‑ and long‑range plans for IT system and solution support to the district.
- Develops user job aids and online library of supplemental instructions for the purpose of enhancing staff ability to utilize computer software applications.
- Interacts with the District Technology Infrastructure Director and team for the purpose of installing, configuring, and troubleshooting firewall hardware, content filters, network or device management systems, routers, switches, and application servers to support the District WAN and LAN connectivity efficiently and effectively.
