Job Description
This position helps make gospel teachings, resources, or services accessible to all in a simple and affordable way, supporting the mission of the Church.
Supervises the sewing production of garments and temple clothing. Prioritizes and directs department resources using: process improvement, performance management and accountability, team building, self-directed problem solving, process mapping, goal setting, workload balancing, motivation and recognition. Ensures that the organization's mission, objectives and goals are accomplished by meeting the business plan for quality, production and cost efficiency.
Responsibilities60% - Stewardship of one or more product lines of approximately 18 - 24 sewers. Has various resources, equipment, personnel, and materials to meet daily, weekly, monthly and annual production goals. Watch inventory and computer reports, ensure inventories are at acceptable levels and that back orders are completed in a timely manner. Prioritize and keep out of back order situations. Prioritize work, organize and direct employees.
Make decisions and adjustments to maintain the work flow of operators.
30% - Motivate employees to work as a team in meeting production, quality and personal performance standards. Recognize accomplishments, encourage, oversee training/retraining employees, evaluate employee performance and initiate disciplinary action to be administered with Supervisor 2 or Production Managers. Ensure high quality of products manufactured by analyzing reports and checking employee work. Work with team members and quality personnel on defects and processes in quality.
5% - Work with Maintenance, Quality, Training and other support functions to ensure tools, processes, products and specifications are available for uninterrupted operational flow. Identify and solve problems within span of control. Elevate more complex issues to higher levels of responsibility.
5% - Enforce company policies and procedures regarding absenteeism, piece-rate ticket handling, safety rules, clocking in and out. Monitor employees and keep accurate records. Maintain payroll.
Qualifications- At least two plus years experience in a production-related field required.
- Bachelor's degree preferred. Prefer Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing Certification or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to set priorities, lead and supervise large numbers of people to achieve desired results including performance management and accountability.
- Ability to solve problems and create change utilizing process improvement.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and prefer Enterprise Resource Planning Systems or related experience.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Bilingual skills helpful.
- Industrial sewing experience preferred.
