Title: Process Control Manager (Food Manufacturing)
Location: BUILT Brands Onsite in American Fork, Utah
Shift: Day 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday - Friday
Reports to: VP of Warehouse and Logistics
Position SummaryThe Process Control Manager is responsible for the development, standardization, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes across the facility. This role focuses on optimizing production workflows, ensuring consistency in product quality, and driving operational efficiency through strong process governance and data-driven decision making.
Responsibilities Process Development & Optimization- Design, develop, and document standardized manufacturing processes across production lines
- Establish process parameters, controls, and specifications to ensure consistent product quality
- Lead process validation efforts for new products, formulations, and production methods
- Identify process inefficiencies and implement improvements to enhance throughput, yield, and cost performance
- Develop and maintain process control plans, SOPs, and work instructions
- Monitor adherence to defined processes and drive accountability across production teams
- Implement and manage process performance metrics (KPIs) such as yield, waste, downtime, and variability
- Support Quality Assurance team to ensure processes meet food safety, regulatory, and quality standards (e.g., HACCP, FDA, USDA, SQF)
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies
- Analyze production data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for process enhancement
- Facilitate cross-functional problem-solving related to process variability and performance issues
- Drive standardization and best-practice sharing across departments or facilities
- Partner with Operations, Quality, R&D, and Supply Chain teams to ensure process alignment
- Support new product commercialization by defining scalable and repeatable processes
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams as needed—but without direct ownership of equipment design or modification
- Train production supervisors and operators on process standards and control methods
- Develop tools, documentation, and visual aids to reinforce process consistency
- Foster a culture of process discipline and continuous improvement throughout the organization
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5–10+ years of experience in food manufacturing, with strong emphasis on process development and optimization
- 6 Sigma Certification, or proven experience with process control, standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Deep understanding of food manufacturing processes and quality systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to use data to drive decisions
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and compliance standards (HACCP, SQF, etc.)
- Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership abilities
- Ability to influence without direct authority and drive cultural change
- Process consistency and variability reduction
- Yield improvement and waste reduction
- Throughput and efficiency gains
- SOP compliance and audit readiness
- Continuous improvement project impact (cost savings, productivity)
- Manufacturing plant environment with regular floor presence
