The Corporate Systems Document Controller is responsible for overseeing document control and governance for Quality and Research and Development (R&D).
Essential Functions Include:
* This role manages the creation, revision, approval, organization, and lifecycle maintenance of specifications, SOPs, formulations, regulatory documents, and other documents to ensure accuracy, compliance, and audit readiness.
* Maintains document control systems, supports cross‑functional workflows, ensures data integrity, and facilitates communication between internal functions (e.g., R&D, Quality, Procurement, Operations, etc.) and external parties (e.g., suppliers, third-party manufacturers, customers, etc.).
* This position enables efficient product development, smooth commercialization, strong adherence to food safety and regulatory standards, and internal and external accountability through keeping documents current, consistent, and accessible.
* Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemistry, Nutrition, or related field.
* 5+ years of food industry experience.
Experience with freeze-drying, dehydrated foods, pet food, or functional ingredients preferred.
* Strong technical understanding of ingredients, packaging, and finished products.
* Experience with project management, onboarding vendors & materials, commercialization, and fulfilling customer technical inquiries and document requests.
* Ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements.
* Ability to interpret technical data, including laboratory test results, KPIs, and statistical analysis.
* Excellent communication, cross-functional collaboration, and organizational skills.
* Experience conducting food safety reviews, risk analysis, and risk mitigation.
* Strong understanding of HACCP.
* Trained in PCQI.
* Experience in supporting and/or conducting audits, including GFSI, customer, supplier, and internal audits, as well as governmental inspections.
* Experience in addressing nonconformances, including Root Cause Analysis, CAPAs, and communicating appropriately for different audiences (e.g., suppliers, internal manufacturing, and customers).
* Technical proficiency with ERPs (e.g., Just Foods) and supplier management software (e.g., Trace Gains).
Physical Requirements and Travel - Must be able to perform the following functions with or without accommodations:
* Consistent and reliable attendance
* Physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching; and frequent fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires the following percentages of time committed to physical activity: 40% or more sitting, 40% or more walking, and 40% or more standing.
* The job is performed under occasional temperature variations and in a food manufacturing office environment. Unrestricted visual and audio abilities are required for the safety of all employees. The ability to lift to 40 lbs. is required.
* Ability to travel up to 5%
