The Quality Assurance (QA) Technician is responsible for ensuring that products meet the company’s quality standards and regulatory requirements. This role involves performing inspections, conducting tests, audits, and documenting results to ensure the consistent production of high-quality products. The QA Technician works closely with production teams to identify and resolve quality issues and to implement continuous improvement initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function/duty satisfactorily. - Conduct Quality Assurance audits of the production facility to assure company standards are maintained and product integrity is preserved.
- Consult with management to resolve quality, production, and efficiency problems.
- Function as an information source to various company departments when special and critical quality issues occur.
- Determine overall plant product quality by conducting and evaluating various product tests and tests related to ingredients and packaging.
- Resolve minor to major quality problems within the facility; evaluate and take corrective action when necessary, regarding product at all levels of product movement; educate and instruct plant personnel in recommended quality control testing, equipment and general sanitation and housekeeping practices while confirming these procedures are maintained. Preparation through submission of evaluation reports is a vital function in the role as well.
- Provide food safety training and on-the-job training to new personnel as required.
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned or needed.
- Comply with the Environmental Health Safety & Security (EHS&S) policies and applicable regulatory and company EHS&S rules and requirements.
- Report to supervision conditions or practices that are unsafe or may adversely impact the environment to ensure prompt resolution of potential hazards.
- Attend scheduled EHS&S training programs.
- Actively support the organization’s efforts to meet or exceed EHS&S goals and plans.
- Recommend improved EHS&S practices.
- Practice safe work habits and follow general safety procedures such as proper lifting and bending, ergonomics, proper use of equipment, and use of personal protection equipment (PPE).
- Adhere to and ensure lockout procedures are followed any time the equipment is being cleaned or maintained.
- Place high priority on food safety, quality, and sanitation by understanding and executing Thrive Freeze Dry’s food safety, quality, and sanitation policies and procedures.
- Hold self and others accountable to Thrive Freeze Dry food safety, quality, & sanitation guidelines and policies by communicating any food safety or quality incident, observation, or opportunity to your leadership team or teammates.
- Adhere to and ensure Product Safety and Quality standards are followed.
- Adhere to and ensure GMP’s regarding food contact packaging as it pertains to the employee.
- Adhere to and ensure Thrive’s food safety, product defense standards and quality objectives comply with all SQF system requirements.
- 0‑2+ years of experience in the field, laboratory, or production facility quality control.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate orally or in written form effectively with co‑workers, departments, and carriers.
- Place high priority on food safety, quality, and sanitation by understanding and executing Thrive Food’s food safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
- Hold self and others accountable to Thrive Foods food safety & sanitation guidelines and policies by communicating any food safety incident, observation, or opportunity to your leadership team or teammates.
