Store Sales Manager

Job Overview

The Store Manager leads Mattress Firm’s vision and initiatives, drives sales performance, and is accountable for the execution of in-store merchandising across multiple store units. The role fosters a customer‑centric environment and develops associates through coaching and performance management.

• Lead the execution of product merchandising, marketing, and POP standards.
• Drive key performance indicators and sales goals for one or more store units.
• Develop and maintain a compelling, engaging environment for team members.
• Coach and develop associate skills, fostering a collaborative and motivated team.
• Conduct new‑hire onboarding, one‑to‑one meetings, and 30‑60‑90 day check‑ins to support team growth.
• Manage workforce activities, including staffing schedules, punch reconciliation, and compliance with company and state policies.
• Represent the Company brand in all internal and external interactions.
• Ensure proper documentation for product transfers, inventory, and cash handling.
• Analyze reporting to determine staffing levels and make recommendations.
• Deliver talent development through product knowledge training and skill gap assessments.
• Exceed individual store financial targets through effective execution and customer service.
• Partner with marketing to plan, implement, and monitor the store’s social media strategy.
• Oversee opening and closing procedures and maintain accurate stock inventory levels.
• Ensure compliance with all sales processing and invoicing policies.
• Participate in company initiatives, maintain competitive awareness, and develop counter‑strategies.

• Prior management experience in a retail setting is required.
• Demonstrated ability to plan strategically and analyze reporting data.
• Strong communication skills and professional representation of the brand.
• Experience coaching and developing team members.
• Ability to manage workforce schedules and reconcile personnel activities.
• Physical ability to stand or sit for 8+ hours and lift, push, or pull 50+ pounds.

• Competitive pay range of $77,000 to $86,000, plus base pay or uncapped commission.
