Quartermaster and Chemical Equipment Repairer

Job Description

The Army National Guard uses a wide range of systems that help protect and serve the force. As a Quartermaster and Chemical Equipment Repairer, you’ll be in charge of keeping those systems running at peak performance. You will support the maintenance of chemical decontamination equipment and quartermaster machinery, including laundry and bath equipment, pumps, engines, burners, filter units, and water purification units.

Your work will help maintain special purpose equipment, decontamination and protective filter systems, smoke generator systems, and chemical electrical systems.

• Service internal combustion engine ignition, fuel, cooling, and electrical systems
• Perform damage assessment and repair

• Internal combustion engine theory
• Interest in shop mechanics, fixing engines, and machinery

After 10 weeks of Basic Training, you will attend 12 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT), which includes hands‑on and classroom training in marine engine maintenance and repair, internal combustion engine theory, and the use and care of hand and power tools. You will earn a regular paycheck and qualify for tuition assistance while you learn.

• Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
• Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or a GED certificate
• Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
• Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
