The Director of Student Services provides leadership, coordination, and oversight for district-wide student support programs designed to ensure the academic, social, emotional, behavioral, and physical well-being of all students. This position combines the responsibilities of Intervention Services, School Social Work Services, and the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program to provide a comprehensive system of support that promotes student success, attendance, school climate, and equitable access to services.
The Director works collaboratively with school administrators, teachers, families, community agencies, and district leaders to remove barriers to learning and improve student outcomes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide leadership and direction for all district student support services and programs.
Coordinate intervention services, social work services, attendance programs, family engagement initiatives, and extended learning opportunities.
Assist with State Reporting of Student Records
Lead implementation and monitoring of MTSS and student intervention programs.
Supervise social workers and assigned student support personnel.
Oversee system-wide enrollment procedures and forms
Oversee attendance improvement initiatives and strategies to reduce chronic absenteeism.
Coordinate services for students and families experiencing social, emotional, economic, or environmental challenges.
Direct and oversee all 21st Century Community Learning Centers programs and related extended learning opportunities.
Develop family and community engagement initiatives and partnerships.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to student services programs.
Supervise, support, and evaluate assigned personnel.
Additional Responsibilities
Adheres to all District policies and procedures
Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Represents the school system at civic, community and business meetings
Supports the culture of the organization
Serves as a champion for the District's values, standards, and strategic initiatives
Assist the organization and coordination of the tribunal process, including acting as the Tribunal Hearing Officer.
Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Educational Leadership, School Social Work, Counseling, Education Administration, Student Services, or a related field.
Valid Georgia Educator Certificate in Educational Leadership or related service field preferred.
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience in education, student services, counseling, social work, intervention services, or a related field.
Administrative or supervisory experience preferred.
Experience managing grant-funded programs preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of MTSS, PBIS, RTI, student support systems, and intervention strategies.
Knowledge of federal and state laws governing student services programs.
Knowledge of grant administration and fiscal accountability.
Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to analyze data and develop strategic improvement plans.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, families, and community stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Ability to work effectively with departmental personnel
Good decision-making and problem solving skills
