This position is responsible for assisting in coaching the university's women's basketball program.

• Assists in planning and managing practices and game day activities. (40%)

  • Instructs, coaches, and motivates players.

• Recruits student athletes. (20%)

  • Attends high school games.

  • Evaluates players.

  • Communicates with coaches and players.

• Advises and monitors the academic progress of student athletes. (10%)

  • Provides advice and support to struggling students.

  • Monitors student athletes' community service.

  • Ensures compliance with eligibility requirements.

• Maintains equipment and supply inventory. (5%)

  • Purchases program equipment.

  • Submits requisitions for equipment purchases.

• Coordinates team travel. (10%)

  • Reserves transportation for away games.

  • Prepares expense reports and travel authorizations.

  • Coordinates meals and hotels.

• Performs a variety of related duties. (15%)

  • Possibility of head coach responsibilities of another collegiate sport.

  • Possibility of instructing courses in the College of Education.

• Educational Requirements

  Preferred Master's degree or Baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field required.

• Required Experience

  Preferred student-athlete experience.

  Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

• Knowledge

  Knowledge of the rules and regulations governing intercollegiate sports.

  Knowledge of college-level athletic program management principles.

  Knowledge of basketball rules and procedures.

  Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.

• Skills

  Skill in the coaching and training of student athletes.

  Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.

  Skill in oral and written communication.
