Academic Advisor For Nursing

This position is responsible for providing academic advising services to Nursing students.

Advises students. (60%) Provides academic advisement to students. Assists students in development educational and career plans. Registers students for classes. Assists students with course selection, registration, and schedule revision. Monitors and tracks advisee progress. Corresponds with students via telephone and email. Refers students to campus and community resources. Processes drop/add forms, withdrawal forms, registration, name changes, and changes in programs of study.

Monitors student alerts to provide support for students in need of support. Assists students with the transfer process. Participates in new student orientation. (10%) Participates in new student orientation and registration activities. Assists students with initial scheduling and with adjustment to academic life. Assists in managing student records. (20%) Updates all pre-nursing/nursing folders. Prepares nursing student graduation paperwork. Assists in reviewing new applications and in making acceptance decisions.

Performs related duties as assigned. (10%)

Required Qualifications Educational Requirements Baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field required Required Experience More than three years of related experience required.

Knowledge of college policies and procedures. Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs. Knowledge of issues and trends related to adult learners. Knowledge of college registration procedures. Skill in decision making and problem solving. Skill in the completion of a variety of reports. Skill in oral and written communication.
