Director Of Bands

Serve as Director of Bands, providing artistic, administrative, and academic leadership for all instrumental performance ensembles. Direct the Concert Band and Athletic Band. Lead instrumental recruitment initiatives, with strong emphasis on:
Recruiting music majors interested in performance, music education, and related fields. Recruiting non music majors to participate in ensembles and maintain a robust campus wide performing arts presence. Building and nurturing relationships with regional high school band programs, directors, and community organizations. Develop and create recruitment opportunities such as honor bands, marching festivals and competitions, and Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE).

Teach courses based on expertise and departmental needs, which may include:
Instrumental Methods, Applied Lessons (Brass, Woodwind, and Percussion), Music Appreciation, Conducting, Music Theory and Aural Skills, and Music History. Deliver a variety of courses in the department according to interest and departmental needs in multiple formats including, but not limited to, online, hybrid, and face-to-face. Provide dedicated advising and mentorship to students as assigned, fostering their academic and professional growth.

Demonstrate a strong commitment to service through active participation in recruitment, departmental, University, and professional activities. Actively engage in Student Success Initiatives and Professional Development. Other duties assigned by the Department Chair, Dean, and Administration.

Master's degree in music, music education, wind/band conducting, instrumental performance, or a related field (earned by the time of appointment). Full-time, 10-month, non-tenure track, with the possibility of summer teaching.
