As a Nurse Practitioner within the Sumter County Health Department at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.
This position will be housed in Americus, GA and will travel throughout West Central Health District’s 16-county health departments to perform advanced nursing functions. You will support the Department by utilizing your expertise to fulfill the following responsibilities:
- Conduct preventative health care assessments with a focus on PrEP Services, Women’s Health, STD examinations and treatment, and hypertension & cancer detection.
- Assess the client’s condition, perform, and interpret laboratory tests, prescribe appropriate treatments/therapies, and provide education.
- Perform therapeutic procedures, such as injections, immunizations and minor invasive procedures as medically required/recommended.
- Perform insertions and removals of various LARC devices.
- Function as an expanded role nurse providing patient care consistent with patient’s level of need.
* Travel will be required throughout West Central Health District’s 16-county health departments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university and/or other education requirements approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing AND certification in the specialty area(s) approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing AND Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse AND Georgia license as an APRN AND CPR certification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Public Health experience, prior knowledge and/or experience with Women’s Health, PrEP services, Women’s health, STD examinations.
All West Central Health District 7 employees are deemed essential workers in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event including but not limited to: staffing a shelter, working at a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or working at a Point of Dispensing site (POD). If you are called on to participate, you are required to report to the designated site as a condition of employment, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.
