Job Summary

This position is responsible for directing the university’s institutional research functions.

Responsibilities
  • Prepares and provides accurate and reliable data, statistics, and reports for internal and external stakeholders. (45%)
    • Provides support and analysis for a variety of institutional reporting functions.
    • Communicates and presents data and study results to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Collects, organizes, edits, maintains, and validates data needed for accurate and consistent data reporting, institutional study, and data-driven decision making. (20%)
    • Reviews data, information, research, and policy studies to anticipate research questions and data needs.
    • Communicates and presents issues related to data use and integrity to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Performs basic and advanced analyses. (15%)
    • Performs basic analysis such as summing, totaling, and descriptive statistics.
    • Performs advanced analysis such as inferential statistics, forecasting, and predictive modeling.
  • Completes professional development activities. (10%)
    • Completes training and workshops, reads professional literature, and attends conferences and meetings to develop knowledge and skills necessary to improve data, information, and analysis for decision-making support.
  • Performs a variety of related duties. (10%)
Required Qualifications
  • Educational Requirements: Master’s degree in a course of study related to the occupational field required.
  • Required Experience: More than three years of related experience required.
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of institutional research principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of research and statistical methods.
  • Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
  • Knowledge of University System of Georgia policies and procedures.
Skills
  • Skill in decision making and problem solving.
  • Skill in the completion of a variety of reports.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
  • The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects and distinguishes between shades of color.
  • The work is typically performed in an office.
Supervisory and Management Responsibility

This position supervises the Reporting and Data Management Specialist.
