High School Administrative Assistant (Job )
Position Summary
Under the direction of the building Associate Principals, this position is responsible for providing administrative support to staff, students, parents and visitors.
Work Summary
Monday‑Friday 7:30am‑4:00pm; 10‑month position.
Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Works with and supports Ames High associate principals.
- Provides administrative support to teachers and other staff, students, parents, and the public.
- Greets and accommodates visitors, handles incoming telephone calls, and takes messages as appropriate.
- Maintains office filing system.
- Gathers data for and types correspondence, reports, and schedules.
- Maintains records for principals or other building staff appropriate to the requirements of the office/building.
- Maintains budget information and building activity accounts.
- Assists in problem resolution in the areas of scheduling, busing, student services, or other emergency situations.
- Contacts and orients substitutes for teaching staff and support staff before school and during working hours as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Experience as a High School Administrative Assistant or equivalent preferred.
Key Competencies
- Knowledge and ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students, staff, and community populations.
- Knowledge of general office procedures and equipment.
- Knowledge of office practices and procedures to include recordkeeping, filing, and reporting methods including Google Docs, email, spreadsheets, etc.
- Ability to handle confidential work with tact and discretion.
- Ability to interact with other staff, students, and the public to obtain and provide information.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to interpret and follow oral and written instructions.
- High standards of ethical conduct and exhibits honesty and integrity.
- Commitment to quality service.
- High level of initiative, effort, and commitment toward completing assignments efficiently; works with minimal supervision.
- Consistent and punctual work attendance.
Compensation
$18.90 per hour
