Position SummaryUnder general supervision analyzes and prepares computerized deficiencies for inpatient and outpatient records in compliance with departmental and regulatory guidelines. Ensures all actions taken in carrying out responsibilities support patient-centered care.
Position Responsibilities Unit Specific Position Responsibilities- Protects the security of medical records to ensure that confidentiality is maintained. Follow all HIPAA and privacy regulations.
- Analyzes inpatient and outpatient paper and electronic medical records using departmental and MGMC guidelines. Reviews records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulations.
- Retrieves/obtains paper documents from units for scanning according to current policies
- Scans and indexes medical record documents in accordance with current naming policies and procedures.
- Meets timeliness guidelines regarding scanning and analysis to ensure healthcare records are available for continuing patient care.
Assists with scanned document quality reviews as requested.
Assists with release of information tasks as needed.
- Answers telephone, greet customers and provide customer service and complete other job functions as assigned.
Knows and follows work schedule, requests PTO within time requirements while ensuring that staff coverage is adequate. Responsible for keeping time and attendance application up to date and accurate.
Qualifications, Knowledge & ExperienceRequired Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education)
Organizational Requirements
Maintain stroke education per regulatory requirements.
Preferred QualificationsHealth Information Management (HIM) experience.
High school diploma or GED
Required Knowledge, Skills & ExperienceKnowledge of administrative and clerical duties such as answering telephones and data entry.
Ability to operate office equipment such as computer, copier, scanner, fax machine, microfilm reader/printer, calculator and adding machine.
High level of interpersonal skills in order to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Ability to work independently.
Excellent customer service and time management skills.
Ability to read and interpret documents.
Skill in using Microsoft Outlook and other Microsoft related programs such as Word, Excel and Power Point.
